App Spotlight

oom.com

I just found this app yesterday. So far its great. It has
  • Quick and easy food logging
  • Access to our library of hundreds of educational articles and challenges — all intelligently assigned by the Coach.
  • Reminders and Notifications.
  • Pedometer and GPS tracking.
  • Group Support and more.

You can go Pro for around $10 a month to add a recipe library, waist measurement tracking and more challenges. The more you do the more you level! You gain levels the closer you get to your goal which I find appealing.

Product Spotlight and New Smoothie Routine

This stuff is amazing! The farms website is here. Amazon link is here.

So I finally have a health food store nearby so I am in health product heaven.
They had samples of a plant protein powder that was great but there was one
problem with it, it had soy, ewwww. Link here for that product.
So I had to mix some products together to get what I wanted.

Taking a break from Whey and using Pea Protein. For nutrients I am using the Bee Pollen with Inca Meal from Peaceful Planet. I also try to work Cider Vinegar in when I can. Fresh Greens and Fruit is also used along with nut/seed milks, Coconut water and Kefir.

Veggies include: Baby Kale, Spinach, Tomato, Basil, Parsley.
Fruit: Blueberries, Kiwi, Pineapple, Mango, Banana.

I used a mix of Sunflower and Pumpkin seeds, shelled and raw.
Coated foil with coconut oil. Placed it on a baking pan.
Spread seeds out on a single layer.
Coat with your favorite spices. I used Cumin, Curry,
Smoked Paprika, Pie Spice, Pink Salt.
Roasted it for 10 mins at 300 degrees.

Quick Spiced Apples and Dark Chocolate Sunbutter Mousse

I wanted an apple but I also wanted it to be special. This is what I came up with.

1 Apple - cored, peeled and thinly sliced.
1.2 ounces Dark Choclate
2 Tbs Sunbutter(or any nut butter)
1 ounce Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
1 tsp Natural Sweetener
Pie Spice(Cinnamon, Nutmeg, All Spice, Clove)
2 ounces Really Thick Greek Yogurt Plain

Start off preparing the apple. I left the skin on the first time I made it,
it caused a problem when scooping it up to eat.
So core it, and peel it. Then thinly slice it.
Steam it for 30-45 secs with a little water in the microwave.
Now prepare the mousse. Melt the chocolate, sunbutter, oil and sweetener.
Stir then add to the yogurt after it has cooled a bit.
Mix thoroughly. Layer the apples in a bowl sprinkling the spice on the apples.
Then spread the mousse on top. Then apples, spice, mousse, repeat.
Top with 1 scoop of yogurt or whip cream, or thickened coconut cream.
