Vacation Cleanse

So I am back from a 4 day binge on somewhat unhealthy food.
Gluten, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, YUM!
Well now it's time to cleanse that out as much
as I can and get back to my diet of meat, veggies and nuts.

This is what I will be drinking to start things off.

My Detox drink consists of:

The juice of
4 Lemons
1 Grapefruit
1 Apple
6 inches of Ginger
Bunch of Grapes
Boston Lettuce
as well as
Detox Herbal Tea
Grade B Maple Syrup
Cayenne Pepper

First 2 days will be Juice, Water, and Tea.
Then 3 days of Smoothies.

Feel Good Power Brunch

So I haven't been feeling 100% the past week or so, and it has been really cold.
So this morning I decided I needed some healthy feel good comfort food.
Normally when I think of a comfort food breakfast,
I think of bacon, eggs, home fries, biscuits and gravy.

So I had to make that healthy ...
The eggs I can keep, the potatoes are gone.
No bacon but I will use bacon fat!
For a biscuit/grits substitute I will use Quinoa flakes.
And it will all be piled on top of sauteed spinach/peppers and onions

The peppers and onions cooking.

Quinoa flakes with bacon fat, butter, garlic and Parmesan.

Flour and bacon fat/coconut butter then

add milk to make an awesome gravy!

That meal was amazing, it really did the trick.
For dinner I will have a bowl of chicken quinoa soup!

Chicken Quinoa Soup!

Today calls for Soup! Chicken Quinoa Soup to be exact.

 Yes, I actually Rotisserie'd a chicken!
Was a bit of a pain but well worth it!
I made a gluten free gravy with the chicken pan drippings.
Going to add to the soup to thicken it.

Used only the white meat.

The 21 day Sugar detox is over!

Wow those three weeks went by quick!
Now that the detox is over I can start enjoying sweets sparingly.
Decided to enjoy some dark chocolate infused with Chili!

Other snacks I enjoy are nuts and dried fruit,
that's my go to snack when I want something sweet.

Right now I am having trouble keeping up with my exercise goals.
I guess it's the cold weather.
Trying not to let it get me down but I know I need to be doing more.

I am also eating 2 meals instead of just 1 as was planned
but I will be doing that starting in February.
I am loving creating meals that are mostly veggie based.
I have probably cut my meat consumption in half, and the meat I do eat has been ground turkey.

I will try to keep this blog updated with meals I make and my progress going forward.

Cashew Cheese Dip/Spread

Sliced Apple with Cashew Cheese, Coconut Milk Cream, Sunflower Seed Butter.
Fresh Nutmeg sprinkled on top.
